Boutique Shopping in Amsterdam
I love wandering around little neighborhoods in European cities, popping into specialty boutiques that feature unique, interesting and local fares. Inherently walkable, Amsterdam and it's neighborhoods feature not only boutiques and shops but also cafes and "coffee bars" (also known as marijuana bars, don't be fooled). You can easily lose yourself in a neighborhood for half a day, especially if you love taking photos and lingering.
- Sky: This female-owned clothing and accessories boutique is one of my favourite in Europe. It is located on the Herengracht almost directly across from the Hoxton hotel. It's extremely well curated and features some of my go-to designers, such as Isabel Marant, Carven and A.P.C.
- By Popular Demand: super fun boutique full of unique homewares, books, kitchen gadgets, travel items, and more. It's great to look through and fun for small gifts to take home.
- Muze the Store: This shop has great boots, dresses, sweaters, tops and more. I really liked its cute tees.
- Antiekcentrum: A large indoor market that features art, antiques and, as they say, bric-a-brac!
- I Love Vintage: Oh this store is cute! It features some vintage clothing but it's main draw is "vintage-inspired" clothing. If you're looking for a unique piece, this is your jam.
- Het Oud-Hollandsch Snoepwinkeltje: Located in the hip neighborhood Jordaan, this corner shop is the candy shop to end all candy shops. Its specialty is licorice; it has over 150 kinds organized in large medicine jars along 3 themes: salty, sweet or spicy herbal. It also carries traditional Dutch hard candies and chocolates.
- Boekie Woekie: I love local bookshops. This one is run by artists and features art books. You'll find something unique here, for sure.
- Back Beat Records: Open for 30+ years, one can find funk, jazz and soul records at this famous shop in Jordaan
- De Kaaskamer: cheese glorious cheese. This shop / tasting room provides you with all the cheese you can set your heart on as well as accompaniments such as breads and olives.
- Koko Von Knebel: Everywhere I go, I stop into pet stores to see what I can bring home to Fletcher. This is a great shop with toys, collars, carriers and more.
- Amsterdam Duck Store: I LOVE this shop! My little niece and nephew do not need more t-shirts so these little rubber ducks were the perfect gift for them. Choose from over 100+ cheeky designs.
